This is as close to a political cartoon as you're likely to get out of me.

Why? Well, primarily because politics leads to the real-life version of flame wars. Don't get me wrong, I like hearing people spew ignorant hearsay and combating it with logic and citation just as much as the next guy. What kind of geek would I be if I didn't? A very low-quality one, for certain. It's just that politics seems to be the quickest path to that base back-and-forth volleying. If I want to get angry in a hurry, I don't need other people, all I need is a TV.

On the other hand, this leads us to a phenomenon for which I would really like a proper explanation. Why do political cartoons exist? There hasn't been a development in the artistic field for - literally - centuries. One notices immediately the lack of comedy, inspiration, and wit. What's up, guys? We have calculators now that fit in pockets, automobiles with internal air-conditioning, and planes that go faster than the planes before them. How long did it take for those developments to come to pass? I'd like to offer a collective "Where you at?" to all the big-names in the field... are there any?

Okay, I'm through with that.
